Dieser wunderschöne grüne Briefkasten hängt mitten im Stadtzentrum von Rio de Janeiro, direkt am Postamt, was wahrscheinlich Sinn ergibt. Er ist der lebende Beweis dafür, dass alt oft besser als neu ist. Und vor allem schöner. Brasilien ist voll von merkwürdig geformten, gelben Plastikbriefkästen. Da ist dieser, der hier wahrscheinlich noch in hundert Jahren seinen Dienst verrichten wird, doch eine absolute Wohltat. Ach, früher war einfach fast alles besser.

This amazingly beautiful green letterbox hangs in the centre of Rio de Janeiro, at the main post office, which I guess makes sense. It is living proof to my claim that many old things were better than the new things we have today. And prettier. Brazil is a country full of strangely-designed plastic letterboxes. This one, which will probably still be around in a hundred years, is a more than welcome change. It pleases the eyes. Ah, I love the past so much!
