Brigitte Bernroider sendet dieses sehr charmante Nachtfoto eines Briefkastens aus der tadschikischen Hauptstadt Duschanbe. Duschanbe ist eine reizende Stadt, ich habe dort ein paar sehr glückliche Augenblicke verbracht, bis ein gepflegter Magen-Darm-Infekt dazwischen kam, den ich auf ein indisches Restaurant schiebe. Das Essen war aber sehr lecker. Soviel also zu Duschanbe. Ich freue mich schon auf meine triumphale Rückkehr dorthin und auf die Jagd nach weiteren Briefkästen. Übrigens, wenn Sie auf der nächsten Cocktailparty mal richtig mit ihrem Wissen prahlen und Dutzende attraktiver Frauen in tiefe Bewunderung stürzen wollen: Duschanbe bedeutet auf persisch „Montag“, die Hauptstadt Tadschikistans heißt also „Montag“, während die frühere kasachische Hauptstadt Almaty  sich „Mutter des Apfels“ nennt. Spannende Welt, in der wir leben, oder?

Brigitte Bernroider sends in this charming nocturnal picture of a Tajik letterbox from the country´s capital Dushanbe. It´s a lovely city, I spent some very happy moments in Dushanbe until a stomach infection (I blame an Indian restaurant, but the food tasted delicious) limited myself to the bathroom largely. I am looking forward to my triumphant return there, hopefully soon. By the way, if you want to be the smartass on the next cocktail party and make dozens of attractive girls look up to you in awe: „Dushanbe“ means „Monday“ in Persian. Thus, the Tajik capital is called Monday. Unlike the former Kazakh capital Almaty, which, if you used its old name Alma-Ata, was called „Mother of the Apple“. What an exciting world we live in, don´t we?
