Die Italiener sind es leid. Ihre Post ist oft dermaßen unzuverlässig, dass sie ihre Briefe säckeweise in den Vatikan fahren und dort zur Post bringen. Denn die Post des Vatikans gilt als eine der weltweit effizientesten. Nirgendwo auf der Welt, so behauptet die Universal Postal Union, die sich um derlei Angelegenheiten kümmert, werden mehr Briefe pro Einwohner verschickt. Die Geschäfte scheinen also gut zu laufen für die vatikanische Post. Das ist doch mal tröstlich zu hören – in einer digitalisierten Zeit.

The Italians are so fed up with their unreliable post office, they carry their letters to the Vatican in bags and boxes to send them from there. The Vatican´s post office is one of the world´s most reliable and efficient. Nowhere in the world, at least that is what the Universal Postal Union says (and they must know) are more letters sent per year and inhabitant than in the Vatican. Business seems to be going very well for the Vatican Post. And that is great news in the digital times we live in.
