Also das ist jetzt eine etwas komplizierte Geschichte. In Amsterdam gab es eine Ausstellung über Marokko. Das absolute Highlight auf dieser Ausstellung (davon gehe ich zumindest aus, ich habe keins der weiteren Exponate gesehen) war dieser original marokkanische Briefkasten, in den Kinder ihre Postkarten einwerfen konnten. Marokkanische Briefkästen sind sehr eng verwandt mit den französischen Briefkästen, die haben auch diese lustige pickelige Oberfläche. Naja, Marokko war ja auch mal sehr eng verwandt mit Frankreich. So schlägt sich Geschichte in Briefkästen nieder. Das Foto ist von Arthur Mebius. Er ist der beste Fotograf, den ich kenne. Und der zweitbeste Briefkastenfotograf.

A Moroccan in Amsterdam

This one is a bit complicated. There was an exhibition about Morocco in Amsterdam a while ago. The absolute star of the show (I am sure it was, haven´t seen any of the other exhibits though) was this genuine Moroccan postbox into which children were invited to put letters and postcards. Moroccan postboxes are very close relatives to French postboxes. They have the same yellow colour and the same pimpled surface. Well, until 70 years ago, Morocco was also a close relative of France. In fact, part of France. Letterboxes reflecting world history… The picture was taken by Arthur Mebius. He is the best photographer I know (and the second-best letterbox photographer).
