Dieser schicke Briefkasten steht mitten auf der Fußgängerstraße in Gibraltar, dem kleinen Fetzen England im Süden Spaniens. Gibraltar ist kaum größer als ein Teller Nudeln, insofern kann ich mir nicht vorstellen, wer innerhalb der kleinen Halbinsel etwas mit der Post verschickt. Man kann einfach alles zu Fuß persönlich vorbeibringen. Nun ja, die Menschen sind faul und aus diesem Grunde gibt es seit über 150 Jahren das Gibraltar Post Office, das sich seit 2005 auch „Royal“ nennen darf. Hoffentlich bleibt das noch ein bisschen so, die rotschwarzen Briefkästen sind nämlich sehr hübsch.

This pretty letterbox stands in the pedestrian street in the heart of Gibraltar, the little piece of England in Southern Spain. Gibraltar is hardly larger than a plate of pasta and I really can´t imagine anyone sending a letter domestically. You can just go for a little walk and take it there personally. Well, people are lazy and that is why the Gibraltar Post Office has been around for more than 150 years. Since 2005, it is even allowed to call itself „Royal“. I hope they stay around for a while as their red and black letterboxes are quite beautiful.
